SUNY New Paltz AWC

The SUNY New Paltz Athletic & Wellness Center is a recreational building for all things exercise and sports, essentially functioning as New Paltz's gym. For me I work with the Intramurals branch of the AWC. This branch handles recreational activities like their Intramural Leagues and Group Exercise courses. They needed someone who could help promote their Intramural events to the student body as they were generally unaware of them and even if they knew them they were unaware of where they could sign up. For my time with them I have focussed on promoting their activities to a wide rang of people through both physical and digital means. One important thing to note about working with them is that I had to follow their Athletic Brand Guidelines. These entailed the use of only New Paltz's Blue and Orange along with black and white in terms of colors as well as the use of a specific body font and two header fonts. Along with this I was allowed to use their logo very sparingly, but that evolved over time as I took on more work like New Paltz Esports.

Here you can see various recognition posts I made for the AWC workers in order to promote community aas well as social posts highlighting the Intramural Event and Intramural League winners in order to give them recognition.

New Paltz Esports

Additionally through my Athletics internship I defined the design style for Esports at SUNY New Paltz. The Esports program at New Paltz was very sparsely supported and at the time is was a part of the Athletics Department. It was my job to give it some more brand recognition and really define what Esports looks like at New Paltz. Below you can see the logo that I created to represent New Paltz Esports which all followed the same Athletics brand guidelines.

Here you can see the posters and advertising materials I made for the Esports program through my time with the AWC. I defined the design style for New Paltz Esports to have the grainy background and sharp shapes to convey the same style of New Paltz's Athletics but in a grittier, more competitive way that stood out from the more standardized and bland design style of sports at New Paltz.

My time at the AWC has been very successful in promoting their programs to the student body. I had originally gotten this internship through a class program at our school but once that class was over they hired me as a paid intern because they loved the work I was producing. You can still find the poster I made advertising how to sign up for intramural leagues at the front of the building even years after I had made it. The work I've made had both gotten more people into the program and celebrated the people contributing to the program.
